PROJECT BRIEF

Located in the historic Carlton Gardens, adjacent to the renowned Royal Exhibition Building, this project holds particular significance. The Royal Exhibition Building and surrounding gardens are a UNESCO World Heritage Listed Site, adding a layer of importance to the restoration efforts.

Following the conclusion of the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, our team works the service provider Serco, who undertake this task on behalf of the City of Melbourne, and event organisers to commence turf replacement works.

Commencing with a walk-through, we identify and map out the areas requiring turf replacement. The turf used for this replacement is Kikuyu Grass Over-Sown with Rye Grass. While specific quantities vary from year to year, we consistently replace large quantities of turf to meet the demands of the project.

As a trusted partner on this project for over 15 years, we bring a wealth of expertise to ensure the grounds are restored to their pristine state.

KEY CHALLENGES

We manage the installation process while the park is being handed over, carefully managing the expectations associated with working on a Heritage site.

Our approach is centred on understanding and addressing the diverse needs of all stakeholders involved, including the City of Melbourne, event organisers, Serco (the Service Provider), staff from the Exhibition Building, and the general public.

Additionally, we undertake contract growing of the over-sown Kikuyu grass specifically tailored to meet the client's requirements.

To ensure seamless operations, we opt for early starts to circumvent city traffic and facilitate timely deliveries of materials and equipment.

SOLUTION

Our success hinges on meticulous planning involving all stakeholders, ensuring smooth coordination and cooperation throughout the project.

Under the expert guidance of our turf management team led by Chris Goschnick at our farm in Alexandra, we uphold the highest standards of quality management of our product.

Building on strong relationships cultivated over time, the dedicated crew executes the work with precision and efficiency.

Our on-site project management ensures seamless operations and timely completion usually within one week from bump out.

Our staff are experts in the turf industry and are ready to discuss your requirements for your next project with you.
